Somehow manages to have both a thriving tech scene and functional social safety nets. The Nordic model might actually work for the AI transition, which is deeply annoying to everyone else.

One of Europe's most honest about AI risk, but honesty doesn't pay the bills. 80% service-sector GDP, a generous welfare state that assumes tax revenue from employed humans, and a tech sector that's building the tools to automate its own neighbours.

Sweden is arguably the best-prepared country for AI displacement. Robust social safety net, strong retraining infrastructure through the 'job security councils,' high digital literacy, and a culture of embracing technological change. The transition support system (Trygghetsradet) has been handling industrial transitions for decades. Not perfect, but substantially ahead of most.

“Sweden has always embraced technological change. We will do so again, but with our social model intact.”

“The Swedish approach is to adapt, retrain, and protect β€” in that order.”
