270 million people, half under 30, in an economy where manufacturing and agriculture still dominate โ€” but the service sector growth that was supposed to absorb them is now facing automation before it even fully developed.
Manufacturing Mining Agriculture Palm Oil Tourism

Indonesia's National AI Strategy (Stranas KA) exists but is early-stage. The economy's heavy manufacturing and agriculture base provides natural insulation from LLM-type automation. However, the growing services sector in Jakarta and the BPO industry are vulnerable. Massive population means even small percentage displacement = millions affected. Infrastructure for retraining is minimal. The saving grace: most of the economy is doing things AI can't do yet.

“Indonesia will embrace AI for national development and digital transformation.”

“Our young and dynamic population is ready for the AI era.”
